2023 NC Audio Play Festival

Voice actors!

We are now accepting auditions for the 2023 North Carolina Audio Play Festival! This is meant to be a fun, low-stress opportunity to collaborate in the creative process. As such, if you are cast as a voice actor, the commitment is just 1-2 virtual rehearsals in early July, and then recording and submitting your character’s dialogue for a 10-minute audio play. The creative team will share some tips for best recording practices to help prevent the need for any re-recording.

Audition Sides

Audition sides can be found below. Recordings should be made in the best-available location to reduce background noise and echo. If you have access to a high-quality microphone, that’s great – but if not, you can download a FREE voice recorder app and record on your smartphone. Set recording setting to 44 kHz or higher. Save as an mp3 or wav file.

This is an all-volunteer community theatre festival, so recordings made with “less-than-ideal” audio quality will not necessarily exclude you from participation.

Using advanced technology, a father and daughter cross the barrier—once thought impermeable—between this life and the next.

Wake (Horror)
Forensic pathologist Caitlin begins the autopsy of Emily Moore, but soon enters a fight for her life after the corpse disappears. Will she make it through the night, or become another body for the morgue?

The Age of Invisibility (Satire)
Who stole a bundle from the corner store?

The Campfire (Comedy)
A family camping trip being put to the test by wind, rain, and spirits.

The Monsters Are Back on Maple Street (Sci-Fi / Satire)
Aliens who arrive to check on the progress of humans on planet Earth are forced to take drastic action when the humans find it impossible to get along with each other.

Jane Gets Sent (Fantasy)

A woman who has been a loner and a pet lover all of her life dies and goes to Heaven. But she doesn’t like that it’s crowded with people, so God decides to send her somewhere . . . else.
