Script doctor Will Bennett will return to his hometown to teach playwriting and screenwriting in two venues this fall.
Bennett will be teaching a two-hour, weekly playwriting class for adults at the Carrboro ArtsCenter beginning on Thursday, September 11. Classes begin at 6:15 and end at 8:15pm, September 11 – December 4 (12 weeks). $216 public, $194 for Friends of the ArtsCenter.

Bennett will also be teaching a Playwriting/Screenwriting Class at Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro starting September 10 through December 3, 6:30pm to 9pm (12 weeks). Cost for this class is $215.25.

Both courses will include class discussion of take-home readings and film, and thorough examination of students’ own work. Students will work towards the completion of a new screenplay/play or one already in progress. Both courses are suitable for writers at any level. Among others, Bennett wrote the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway play “Corporate Rock” and produced the Off-Broadway cult hit “Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy”, starring Corey Feldman. Before joining the theatre ranks he worked as a journalist in NYC and taught fiction writing at the University of Virginia, where he earned an MFA. He also holds an MA in Writing for Performance from the University of London. For the past few years he has worked as a guide and co-owner of a whitewater rafting company in Montana, where he continues to write and edit manuscripts of all shapes and sizes. He will be returning to his hometown of Chapel Hill in August.
