NOTE: now starting and ending a week later. 5 spots left!!
Because theatre is the most collaborative art, most of playwriting is revision, literally “seeing again” through the eyes of the actors, the designers and the director. This workshop, for writers who have a complete (or nearly complete) first (or second) draft of any length, explores the craft of revision. Through each of six sessions, participants’ scripts will be read, deconstructed and discussed, and tools will be given to focus and guide the revision process.
The workshop will be led by Ian Finley, who served as the 2012 Piedmont Laureate in the field of playwrighting and screenwriting. Finley is author of of the “Our Histories” series at Burning Coal Theatre Company, comprised of 20 site specific scripts about the history of Wake County (including A Walk Through the Pages of History for the Town of Cary). He is also author of 1960, Jude the Obscure, Green Square, Up from the Ground, The Interior of the Oude Kerk, Bronze, Suspense and other plays.
