Writer Submissions
Cary Playwrights’ Forum is seeking North Carolina playwrights for “It’s Been One Week,” the return of our monologue-writing competition! Deadline for submissions is February 4th.
After 7 playwrights are matched (by the producers) with 7 actors, these dynamic duos will have one week to write, rehearse, and record a memorized, brand-new, 2-5 minute monologue — based on a mystery prompt randomly chosen in a Facebook Live event. The monologues will livestream the premiere on the night of February 26th, and the creators of the audience favorite will win $150.
All aspects of video creation are owned by the writer/actor team. You have lots of flexibility (we’ll discuss later) about how you create it… and there will be SOME editing help if needed.
Playwrights must be available for the following:
- A Facebook Live event and virtual meeting the night of February 20th
- One intense week of work from February 20th-26th (including at least 2 virtual rehearsals scheduled with your acting partner)
Diversity of demographics is a primary goal.
To be considered for the competition, please submit your North Carolina address (you must be an NC resident), a writing resume or summary and 1-2 short monologue samples here: https://forms.gle/HLv3dXP3baD5jfTe9
Playwrights will be notified of our decision by February 13th.
