Close Encounters – October Staged Reading

Cary Playwrights’ Forum will hold our October Staged Reading – “Close Encounters: Tales of Space, Ghosts & Blood!” at 7:30 pm on Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th in the Paul Cooper Room at the Cary Arts Center. Free – Suggested Donation $10

This production will have a number of original works by our local playwrights as well as a play or two that was crafted by CPF members from the contributions of the “new playwrights” who visited our booth at the Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday, August 24, 2013 to create a “Play in a Day” !

CPF Summer Showcase August 3rd

On Saturday, August 3rd at 7:30 pm, the Cary Playwrights’ Forum will present a special summer showcase of short plays in the Marcus Dry Room at the Cary Arts Center.

These plays were developed thru our playwriting workshop taught by CPF Education Chair, Jesse Lowe, with assistance from Sonia Usatch-Kuhn, at Carolina Preserve, an active adult community, to assist the development of new playwrights in our community.

The playwriting workshop was made possible, in part, thanks to a grant awarded to us from the Town of Cary Lazy Daze Festival Committee. Plan to join us for this special event!

Admission is free, however any donation you may wish to make will help assist our small organization in providing more opportunities for our local community.

Rehearsals Start for Special CPF Summer Showcase!

This summer’s special Cary Playwrights’ Forum showcase of plays developed through our writing workshop held this past spring have been cast! Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, July 10th.

These plays were developed thru our playwriting workshop taught by CPF Education Chair, Jesse Lowe, with assistance from Sonia Usatch-Kuhn, at Carolina Preserve at Amberly, an Active Adult community in Cary, to assist the development of new playwrights in our community.

The playwriting workshop was made possible, in part, thanks to a grant awarded to the Cary Playwrights’ Forum from the Town of Cary Lazy Daze Festival Committee.

Auditions for CPF Summer Showcase

Cary Playwrights’ Forum will hold auditions for a special summer showcase of 3 to 4 short plays to be performed at the Cary Arts Center on August 2nd and 3rd.  Each play will be a full production with lights, costumes and minimal sets.

These plays were developed thru our playwriting workshop taught by CPF Education Chair, Jesse Lowe, with assistance from Sonia Usatch-Kuhn, at a local senior community, Carolina Preserves, to assist the development of new playwrights in our community. The playwriting classes took writers and aspiring writers from zero pages to polished scenes…. teaching them elements of playwriting and developing these dramatic pieces in workshop.

The playwriting workshop was made possible, in part, thanks to a grant awarded to us from the Town of Cary Lazy Daze Festival Committee.

Auditions will be held for one night only – Wednesday June 26th, 6:30 pm to 9 pm in the Paul Cooper Room at the Cary Arts Center.

The auditions will be cold readings from the plays.

Casting for males and females ages 30 to 60’s.
